Learn about our Marie Sharp's Factory Tour; A Spicy Adventure
If you’re a fan of hot sauces and spicy foods, you’ve likely heard of Marie Sharp’s. This Belizean company has been producing some of the world’s best hot sauces for over 30 years, and visitors to Belize can now take a factory tour to see how it’s all made.
Located 8 miles from the town of Dangriga, the Marie Sharp’s factory tour offers a unique behind-the-scenes look at how these famous hot sauces are made. From growing the peppers to bottling the
final product, you’ll get to see it all.
The tour starts with a visit to the pepper fields, where you’ll see rows upon rows of fiery habanero peppers growing under the Belizean sun. These peppers are the key ingredient in Marie Sharp’s sauces, and they’re hand-picked at the perfect time to ensure maximum flavor and heat.
Next, you’ll head inside the factory itself, where you’ll see the peppers being washed, chopped, and mixed with other ingredients to create the perfect blend of flavors. You’ll get to see the huge vats of sauce bubbling away, and even get to taste test some of the different varieties.
One of the coolest parts of the tour is seeing the bottling process in action. You’ll watch as the hot sauce is poured into
bottles, sealed, and labeled, all by hand. It’s a true labor of love, and you’ll appreciate the effort that goes into each and every bottle.
Of course, no visit to Marie Sharp’s factory would be complete without a trip to the gift shop. Here, you’ll get to taste all of the different hot sauces, as well as other Belizean products like jams, jellies, and even chocolate. Stock up on souvenirs to take home, or pick up a few bottles of hot sauce to spice up your meals back at the hotel.
